Modern comforts in a historic farmhouse
This listed building renovation required a sensitive architectural approach. The aim was to introduce the comforts of modern living while preserving the farmhouse’s historic character.
A side extension for the kitchen and the views
We designed a distinctive side extension at Lowerfield Farm to accommodate a new kitchen and make the most of the countryside views. An existing window opening provided access to the extension, limiting the loss of historic fabric.
The extension is built in Cotswold stone under a slate roof, with full-height glazing set between oak posts and stone piers. It opens onto a stone terrace and the garden beyond.
The rest of the farmhouse was carefully refurbished to a high standard.
Working with the planning and conservation teams
Working closely with Cotswold District Council’s planning and conservation teams, Cotswold Architects developed a scheme for Lowerfield Farm that improves everyday living while respecting the significance of the listed building.
